To loose 1 lb per week it is recommended that you subtract 500 cal/day from your "Adjusted for Activity Level" caloric intake requirements. Likewise to gain add 500 cal/day. If you want to loose more weight per week you can run a 1000 cal/day deficit. It is not recommended to go beyond the 1000 cal/day deficit for an extended period of time.
